WARNING: IT IS A REQUIREMENT THAT ENERGYSAVER PRODUCTS BE INSTALLED BY A LICENSED AND INSURED ELECTRICIAN. INSTALLING ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT MAY RESULT IN SHOCK, SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. INSTALLATIONS REQUIRE A DEDICATED CIRCUIT BREAKER FOR EACH ENERGYSAVER ENCLOSURE. BE SURE TO FOLLOW ALL LOCAL ELECTRICAL CODES AND RESTRICTIONS.
Installation Considerations
Installation should be odorless, clean and dry; near the main breaker panel or a nearby sub-panel to accommodate the required circuit breaker. One circuit breaker is required for each EnergySaver. Sub panels may be added for the required circuit breaker, if required. For outside or wet applications, additional NEMA 3 enclosures are required and are subject to proper installation.
- Model 1200 is for residential, light office application: single phase; 200 amps; 110/220V.
- Model 3200 is for light commercial applications: 3 phase; 200 amps; 208/440V max.
- Model 3400 is for heavier industrial applications: 3 phase; 400 amps; 208/440V max.
For higher amperage applications, multiple units may be installed at each of the 400amp (or less) sub- panels which break out from the main panel.
Installation Instructions
- Turn power “OFF” in main breaker panel before opening either the main or the sub- breaker panel. Do not turn back on until installation is complete.
- Obtain a dedicated circuit breaker and place the breaker in OFF position.
• Model 1200 requires a two pole 20 amp breaker
• Model 3200 requires a three pole 30 amp breaker
• Model 3400 requires a three pole 40 amp breaker - Remove panel cover and remove “knock-out” tabs as required. Mount the EnergySaver securely to a solid surface using two screws. Cut sleeve to length, if required, add bushings, and secure sleeved wires to the breaker panel from the EnergySaver enclosure.
- Attach the Energy Saver wiring as follows, with breaker in the “OFF” position.
- For Model 1200: connect the two red wires to the new breaker
- For Model 3200 & 3400: connect the three red wires to the new breaker
- For all models: Connect the green wire to the grounding buss bar
- Check for secure connections, install the breaker and re-install cover panel. Turn main panel power to “ON”. Next, turn dedicated EnergySaver circuit breaker to “ON”.
- Observe the pilot light on the EnergySaver is lit. A slight hum may be observed in high amperage applications.
- If light is not lit, turn power “OFF” on the dedicated circuit breaker and the main power panel. Remove panels and re-check for secure connections to red and green wires. After inspection, re-install panels, turn main power “ON” and dedicated EnergySaver circuit breaker to “ON”. The light should be lit.
- If the light remains “OFF” call your dealer or tech support.
